The report also found that the candidates’ preferred social network for job searches is LinkedIn with 90.8%, trailed well behind by Twitter and Facebook with 36.2% and 31% respectively.
LinkedIn is not only the most used platform to find employment, it is also the preferred choice for building one’s personal brand, sending résumés, creating a network of contacts and even for locating recruiters.
According to Adecco, in Spain 37.3% of jobseekers have been contacted by recruiters through social networks, while worldwide, the percentage drops to 23%. And 30.5% of those contacted by recruiters via the Internet had a job interview.
In terms of the candidates’ educational levels, recruiters are more likely to contact those who have higher education, such as a university degree (26%) or a master’s degree or doctorate (37%), rather than those with less formal training.
Given these results, it’s logical that 29.2% of candidates include links to their social-media networks on their résumés as they are aware that online reputation is a fundamental aspect for recruiters. 67.7% of candidates add their LinkedIn profile to their CVs, while only 14.7% include their Twitter account, 10.5% their blog and 10.2% their Facebook profile.
Faced with this new reality, it is common practice for recruiters to use social networks to get additional information about candidates. 17.7% of those seeking employment say they have been asked about their presence in social-media networks in a job interview.
